Man Overboard
(MOB)
Moving or Deleting a Mark
Youcan move or deletemarksusing the context-sensitive cursor.
➤ Usethe contextsensitivecursorto move or deletea mark (the labelMRK
appearsunderthecursor). See Moving and deletingitems withthecontext-
sensitive cursor on page 1-17.
4.4 Man Overboard (MOB)
Ifyouloseapersonorobjectoverboard,andneedtoreturntothelocation,you
shoulduse theMan Overboard(MOB)functionimmediately.
Note:To obtainan MOB position,you need eitherof the following:
• Positiondatafroma GPSor equivalentdevice
• Headingandspeeddata, so thatthe positioncan be calculatedbydead
reckoning
Youcanselectthe typeof dataused for theMOB positionusingthe Set Up
Menus(seeSection 7.3).
➤ To initiate the MOB procedure,pressandholdtheMARKS keyfor two
seconds.
ThePathfinderPlusRadar thenperformsall the followingtasks
automatically:
• Marks thecurrent positionwith a MOB symbol.
• TheMOBwaypointreplacesany current activewaypoint and route.
• Displays the MOBdata box, showingthebearingand distancefrom your
vesseltotheMOBwaypointposition,andtheelapsedtimesincetheMOB
wasinitiated.
• Displays the positiondatabox,showing your vessel’s position.
• Asyour vessel moves away fromtheMOB position,adottedline isdis-
playedconnectingthe MOB position and the vessel’scurrentposition.
• Soundsa 4-secondalarm patternevery30 seconds.
• Sendsan MOB message to otherunits in the system,viathe SeaTalk con-
nection.
