8.9 Integrated System Checks
Chart Display - RL70/80CRC PLUS, RC530 PLUS, RC631 PLUS
Whenyouhaveconnectedyourdisplayunittotherequiredequipmentensure
thatpositiondata isavailableat thedisplayvia NMEAorSeaTalk.
To confirmyour chartplotterisoperating correctly,performthe following
checks:
1. Withouta chart cardinstalled,selecttheChartdisplaymode and selecta
suitable range scale.Verify thatthe world map is visible.
Usethetrackpadto checkcursormovement and normal scrollingaction.
2. To ensurethat the displayis respondingto positiondata:
PressFIND SHIP, checkthecursorisfixedonthevesselsymbolwhichiscor-
rectlypositionedat the centerof the chart display.
3. Inserta chartcartridgeforthearea of your vessel.
Usethe RANGE key to zoom-into checkthatthe chartdatais beingdis-
played.
Received Data
IfeitherSeaTalkorNMEA In isconnected, verifythat theexpecteddatais
displayed.
1. PressDISPLAY and select the NAV DATA WINDOW ON.
Checkthattheexpecteddata is displayed.
2. Ifheadingdataisconnected,selectChartmodeandcheckitisdisplayed in
theheadingdatabox,orselectRadarmodeandcheckheadingisdisplayed
in the Status Bar.
Transmitted Data
IfSeaTalk or NMEA Out is beingtransmittedtootherequipment,checkthat
thedata isbeingreceivedcorrectly.
AnNMEA Out connectoris used to transmitnavigationdata. The NMEA
Outputcableshouldbeconnectedtotheupper,leftconnectorontherearofthe
displayunit.
Note:The NMEAOutput cable has a ferriteclamp attachedtoensure EMC
conformance.
