Eachtime you press the RANGE key,the range changestothenext available
setting.Thesystemwillbeepthree timesifno further rangescale isavailable.
Tochangetherangequickly,pressandholdtherequiredarrowontheRANGE
key.
Therangescaleandrangering intervalindicators,at theleft-handendofthe
statusbar,areupdatedwhenever you changethe range.
Determining Actual Radar Range
Theactualmaximumradarrangeisessentiallyline-of-sight,andis limitedby
theheightofthe scannerand the heightofthetargetas shown in Figure 3-1.
Table 3-2 lists some rangeexamples:

Note:Therangesshowninthetablearetheoreticalmaximumranges.Thera-
darhorizonisgreaterthantheopticalhorizon,but the radar can only detect
targetsif a largeenough targetisabovetheradar horizon.
